Dazzling weekend at Morobe Show

“Hectic! Busy, peaceful and good fun too!” says Christopher Elphick, Marketing Manager of KK Kingston, when asked to describe how the 2013 Morobe show weekend went. Hosted in the Morobe provincial capital of Lae, the show was held last Saturday the 19th and Sunday the 20th of October. Historically an agricultural show, the event now hosts many commercial stalls all selling promotional merchandise and touting their goods. Once again, the show was very well attended. Drawing crowds from across Morobe and the neighboring highlands, costal and island provinces.

KK Kingston has a tradition of participating at the Morobe Show. This year the team won an encouragement award from the show judges for the impressive display. The famous Dazzle Haus stall was as colourful and fun filled as ever. Show bags, t-shirts, caps and other branded merchandise were on sale alongside the ever popular dazzle dunk game.

KK Kingston’s brand of Tuffa water tanks and rotomould products also held a display and ran the ‘Break the Tuffa Tank Competition.’ Participants were given 2 swings of a sledge hammer to prove they are up to the challenge of breaking the reputably ‘Tuffa than the rest’ range of quality tanks. The prize up for grabs for the big hitters was a Tuffa tank to take home. This proved to be another big crowd pleaser with everyone from the biggest-man-mountain to brave young lads having a crack with the hammer.

Sunny days on Saturday and Sunday kept the show buzzing with activity all weekend. Trukai, Mainland holdings, Nestle and Paradise foods, amongst others, had very impressive stalls. The displays of horsemanship, horse races, motor bike stunts, and a shooting exhibition from the PNG Defense Force in the main arena were very entertaining too.

“The team all worked very well together. It was tiring, but rewarding. We had a lot of fun, and in 12 months-time we’ll be back doing it all again,” commented Lois Emmanuel, the Retail promotions coordinator, before her supervisor Felix Yamu adds, “Yes, but in 2014 it’ll be bigger and better yet again!”
