KK Kingston in union with PNG Powerlifting Federation and the PNG-Australian Federal Police is hosting another invitational powerlifting competition at the Badili Police parade grounds in Port Moresby on the 3rd of September 2016.
This is part of a series of Powerlifting competitions in Lae and Port Moresby initiated by KK Kingston CEO, Michael Kingston after the Pacific Games in year 2015. The powerlifting team was successful during the 2015 Pacific Games winning 15 medals in Port Moresby.
The main aim of the event is to take in more interested Papua New Guineans to take part in this sport as well as providing competition experience to current lifters throughout PNG.
With the recent competition held in Port Moresby early last month the turnout and enthusiasm from young aspiring athletes has been very encouraging. Apart from the event held in Port Moresby, two other events have already been held in Lae this year. Many of the Business houses in Lae have also supported this initiative to raise much needed funds to re-equip the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium in Lae.
The competition fee is only K10 and it’s free for spectators. Registration is open to men and women of all weight classes above the age of 18. There will be food and drinks on sale to make it a great family day out. Pre-registration is already open, but you can also register and weigh-in on Saturday morning between 7am and 9am. Warm up from 9am – 10am when the competition begins.
KK Kingston looks forward to the event this Saturday 3rd of September and to hosting more Powerlifting events in Port Moresby and Lae throughout the year.
